Terms of use
These terms are the agreement between you and the operator of Immer. They are written to be read: what the service does, what it does not promise, how credits work, and what each side is responsible for.
1. The service
Immer (askimmer.ca) is a research assistant that answers questions about Canadian tax and bookkeeping from a reviewed catalogue of official publications, cites each document with its date, and says so when the catalogue does not cover a question. It is created and operated by Anton Pazynych ("we", "us"). Contact: hello@askimmer.ca.
Immer is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Canada Revenue Agency, any provincial tax authority, or any other government body. It does not file returns and does not connect to accounting or tax software.
2. Information, not advice
Answers are written by an AI model from the passages it finds. They are informational support, not professional, legal, tax or accounting advice, and they can be wrong: a passage can be misread, a document can be out of date for a given year, and the catalogue does not cover everything (Quebec's own returns and taxes, for example, are outside it). Every answer shows its sources so you can check them. You remain responsible for the work you do for your clients and for verifying an answer against its source before relying on it.
3. Accounts and access
- Access is by invitation while the service is being tested. You must be at least 18 and use Immer for your work.
- Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what is done through your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts the service or other users at risk, or is used unlawfully. You may stop using Immer at any time and ask us to delete your account.
4. Your clients' information
You may enter information about your clients and attach their documents. You confirm that you are allowed to do so, including any consent your clients must give, and that you follow the privacy law that applies to your practice. How we handle that information is described in the privacy policy. Enter only what a question needs.
5. Acceptable use
Do not use Immer to break the law or to help anyone evade tax; do not try to get around its security, access other people's data, or overload it; do not copy its catalogue or answers in bulk by automated means; and do not upload anything you have no right to use.
6. Prepaid credits
- Answers are paid for with prepaid credits. There is no subscription and no monthly fee. CA$1 buys 10 credits; top-up packs are CA$10, CA$25 and CA$50. Prices are in Canadian dollars, and any sales tax that applies is shown at checkout.
- Every new account starts with 20 free welcome credits. Welcome credits have no cash value.
- Each answer uses a fraction of a credit, depending on how much it had to search, read and write. The app shows what each answer used and your balance. Credits are taken only once an answer is complete; if an answer fails, nothing is taken.
- Credits do not expire while your account is open.
- Purchased credits are not refundable, except where the law requires it, when a payment was taken in error, or if we close the service — then we refund the purchased credits you have not used.
- Payments are processed by Stripe under its own terms; we never see your card details.
7. Official publications and our content
The forms, guides, legislation and other official publications Immer cites belong to their publishers; answers quote them briefly and link to the original. Immer's software, design and own texts belong to us. Answers written for you are yours to use in your work.
8. Availability and changes
We work to keep Immer available and its catalogue current (publishers are checked weekly, and a change becomes citable after review), but we do not promise that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change or discontinue features. If we close the service, we will tell account holders by email at least 30 days ahead and refund unused purchased credits.
9. Limits of liability
To the extent the law allows: the service is provided "as is"; we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, penalties or interest charged to you or your clients, or decisions made on the basis of an answer; and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Law, changes and contact
- These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
- We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the last change; for a significant change we will tell account holders by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Immer after that means you accept the new terms.
- The English version of these terms prevails over its translations.
- Questions: hello@askimmer.ca.
Have a question this page does not answer?
Ask Immer. It searches the same official publications, cites each one with its date, and says so when they do not cover your question.
